BREED COUNCIL PROPOSAL

FEBUARY, 2012 CFA BOARD MEETING

REPORT from GEORGE EIGENHAUSER

Hi All,

I'm tied up with the Board meeting so just a quick update on the MC ballot item.

Prior to the Board meeting Jerry and CO staff were made aware of
concerns about missing Breed Council members and ballots. Alexis also reported the problems to Annette Wilson, the chair of Breeds & Standards. They attempted to determine the extent of any problems based on the information reported by BC members who felt they either were not sent a ballot or their vote was not counted. The result of the investigation was that they report with "a high degree of confidence" that any ballots sent to CO were properly counted. When attempting to follow up on BC members who did not get ballots (not just MC but several other breeds as well) they haven't found a significant number of omissions despite anecdotal claims to the contrary.

Alexis provided the Board with a written outline of the discussion we had on this list regarding missing ballots. The Board was made aware of the BC members who felt they did not receive ballots. The outline noted BC members' concerns about the language used: i.e. non-registerable vs. unregisterable. The results of our online poll were included as well.

The Board voted no, including me. Registration changes do not follow the same rules as Show Standards. Reference to registration rules in a Standard creates potential conflict.
