MAINE COON BREED COUNCIL NEWSLETTER JUNE 2009

There were 30+ Maine Coon Breeders present at the MCBC meeting in Palm Springs in conjunction with the Annual.  This was a great attendance considering there is not an abundance of Maine Coon Breeders that live in this area of the county!

Our meeting opened with introductions followed by thanks to the many folks that help our Breed Council with the many jobs that keep us up and running.
Thanks were given to Dennis and Trudie Allen for maintaining the MCBC web site and keeping our MCBC list going; Geree Martin for heading up our Standards Committee; Teresa Signore as our MCBC Historian; Nan Moses for keeping us up-to-date on all our health news as our Health Committee chairman; to Grace Ann Cox for being the Chairman of our Breed Booth Committee; and to Donna Day, our Treasurer, for handling all our funds.  And last but not least, many thanks were given to Dennis and Trudie Allen, and Joel Chaney for all their work on our awards!  Again, many thanks to all of you for working for the Maine Coon Breed Council.

The Treasurer’s report from Donna Day, our treasurer, was given by Betsy Gaither, in Donna’s absence.  We are in GREAT shape, thanks to all of you that support the sales of our Awards Books and donations.  As of this writing we should have close to $2,000+ in our account.  I am almost sold out of the Books and still have money to send to Donna.  Just waiting a bit so I only have to do one mailing to her.

Thanks to Teresa Signore for bringing our Historical Book for all to enjoy.  She has and is doing a fine job with this.  She will be calling on some of you to help with articles on cats and Maine Coon Breeders for this document.  This is a great way to keep track of the history of our breeders and M C Cats.

We discussed the Meet The Breeds and I will say here that we have several folks working on this. It should be a great booth in NY to show off our wonderful Maine Coons to the public.  We have several folks bringing cats, some just joining to help man the booth, some working on the design, and some actually putting some things together.  Many thanks to all of you and you will be honored in our next Awards Book!!!!!  Thanks to Joel and Camelle Chaney, Liz Blanc, Grace Esposito, Dennis and Trudie Allen, Betsy Gaither, Shelia Haskins, Elinore Koehlinger, and anyone else I may have forgotten.

At this point we are on hold for the possibility or having an All Maine Coon Show.  I still have this as a goal.  But for now it is on the back burner.  Will keep you posted if we are able to get this on the front burner.

The only standard change that will be coming up for next years ballot is housekeeping change only.  That is to make to wording read consistently on the with white cats.  Some places our standard says: Must have white on bib, belly and all 4 feet, while some places it says:  Must have white on bib, belly and all 4 paws.  The proposal will be to have all places say PAWS and not feet.

Thanks again to all for attending and I will look forward to seeing you soon.  Unless we have something major to discuss at the International Show this year, we will not have a Breed Council Meeting, as it is now a 2-day show.  Thanks to all of you for supporting your Maine Coon Breed Council.

Respectively submitted,

Martha Auspitz,

Maine Coon Breed Council Sec.
